THE ARTIST

Dan Hastings began pursuing taxidermy at the age of 10 after harvesting his first duck and wanting it mounted without the means to have it done professionally. This began a life long journey of research, trial and error and countless hours spent in a makeshift shop applying and developing techniques to begin achieving the goal of producing high quality taxidermy. Given that this passion started at such a young age, Dan has always spent his time in nature with the perspective of a taxidermist. This means that for over 20 years, every single day hunting or even walking the dog has also doubled as a wildlife behavior and reference gathering outing. By keenly observing the movements of birds and animals in nature, Dan is able to produce very natural, lifelike poses as well as capture the emotion and feeling that observing animals provides the hunter. Meticulous detail is a part of him. From a 7 year career as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, to building his own custom fishing rods from scratch, Dan thrives off the most tedious of tasks which means no details of your mount will go overlooked.
